Although many people are eager to get the COVID-19 vaccine, the registration website and large-scale vaccine delivery make it difficult for residents who do not speak English or who have no means of transportation to obtain the vaccine. Fortunately, our Tzu Chi Medical Center in the community also applied for the vaccine, and is open to the public. Many locals rushed to get the vaccine.

Dr. Denq has been an incredible Tzu Chi volunteer for many years. After over two decades of kind, compassionate service, he has taken the reins at Tzu Chi Medical Foundation (TCMF), stepping up as Chief Executive Officer after the retirement of the dedicated Dr. William Keh. With his extensive experience both as a practicing physician and head of one of Tzu Chi’s Medical clinics, Dr. Denq is sure to guide Tzu Chi’s medical mission to new heights.

Most residents rely on their catches to earn a living, but it's not truly enough to live comfortably. It is ultimately what kinds of fish and how much the men bring back from the sea that determines how well or poorly their families will live in the next few days. San Mateo has one hospital and a pharmacy.

In 2010, the Tzu Chi Medical Foundation (TCMF) in the United States established a Tzu Chi Community Clinic in Wilmington, CA, adjacent to the Port of Los Angeles. With compassionate outpatient services, medical outreach activities, and food distribution events, the clinic has become like another home for many locals. And ten years after its founding, this home energized by love and care still endures.
