On May 18, 2024, Barnes Memorial Park in Monterey Park was the epicenter of a joyous celebration as Tzu Chi Medical Foundation participated in a Taiwanese American Heritage Week Festival and a Mental Health & Wellness Fair. Both events were a spectacular success, drawing in thousands of visitors eager to experience Taiwan’s rich cultural tapestry and access vital mental health and wellness resources.

A Feast for the Senses: Taiwanese American Heritage Week

Thanks to Tim Chang, Board Chair at Tzu Chi Medical Foundation (TCMF), who forged a key connection with the event organizers, both TCMF and the Jing Si Books and Cafe at Tzu Chi USA National Headquarters had the opportunity to participate in this vibrant celebration, promoting Tzu Chi Health Center services and plant-based products. This partnership allowed us to engage with the community in meaningful ways.

TCMF’s booth was a beacon of support, offering information about our healthcare services, disaster relief efforts, and various community programs. Many attendees eagerly learned more about the Foundation’s Health Centers and services, gaining insights into how our work impacts those in need.

Jing Si Books and Cafe complemented these efforts by promoting a plant-based lifestyle. Their booth featured an enticing array of vegetarian food, encouraging attendees to explore the benefits of a plant-based diet. Visitors were delighted by the delicious vegetarian options, and the popularity of Jing Si’s offerings was evident as products quickly sold out, requiring urgent replenishment. Chang aptly noted, “Jing Si’s products are deeply trusted and loved by the public.”

Mental Health & Wellness Fair: Caring for the Community
