Who We Are

In Chinese, “tzu” means compassion and “chi” means relief- the very things Dharma Master Cheng Yen sought to offer the impoverished in her native Taiwan. The Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation was founded in 1966 and began providing medical care to the poor. Since then, it has evolved its care into an international medical mission.
