April 10, 2020, was Good Friday, a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, which precedes Easter Sunday, marking Christ’s resurrection.
While several states have raised the alarm on the spread of the new coronavirus disease, also known as COVID-19, Tzu Chi USA has been educating service users, volunteers, and staff on the importance of taking precautions and is canceling or postponing planned activities. Yet, while risk was still considered relatively low in the United States in February, the Tzu Chi Medical Foundation hosted a medical outreach in Bakersfield, CA, on February 23rd.
The Tzu Chi Medical Foundation hosted its annual appreciation dinner on December 14, 2019, for all those who’ve helped improve and advance its humanistic mission during the year! A drum show kicked off the event, lifting the spirits of attendees.

September 29, 2019, was a special day for the Las Vegas Tzu Chi Service Center for several reasons. Not only was it a day for dental outreach at the Salvation Army to benefit the homeless community in Las Vegas, but it was also the first-ever vision outreach to be conducted in Las Vegas by Tzu Chi.
With improved methodologies and new healthcare services, Tzu Chi’s Medical Outreach mission to Milpitas ensures a healthier and better future for the community.
Tzu Chi Medical Foundation has been sending medical volunteers from the United States, Canada, Taiwan, and more, three to four times a year to offer vulnerable residents access to quality medical care that includes consultations, dental treatments, pain therapies, ophthalmology, and pharmaceutical services.
3,768 patients received life-changing medical care throughout the medical outreach mission lead by TIMA medical in Mexico.
Since 1996, Tzu Chi TIMA has been hosting quarterly free medical outreach clinics with support from local volunteers and retired medical workers at Golden Valley High School in Bakersfield, California — one of the poorest cities in the country. Volunteers hope to continue to encourage more local doctors and residents to join this community service to expand reach.
