From April 25th to 27th, the Tzu Chi Vision Mobile Clinic visited Roeding Elementary School and Harvest Elementary School in Fresno to help children from low-income families in the Central Valley area of California have a chance at academic success unhampered by vision issues.
During the emergency relief distribution after the 2023 Planada flood, Tzu Chi volunteers found that local residents were in great need of medical services, so they expanded their services from charitable services to also include medical care. On April 28th, the volunteers conducted a special clinic activity to provide free eye care services to residents.
At the invitation of Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis’s Office, Tzu Chi USA joined the Los Angeles County government’s annual festival for the unhoused on December 22, 2022, presenting services such as eye screenings to 200 unhoused attendees.
As the number of COVID-19 infections slowed in the U.S., Tzu Chi volunteers resumed the Mobile Vision Clinic in school districts in El Monte, CA, where they prescribed new eyeglasses for students from disadvantaged families. The kids couldn’t wait to put on their new glasses, and laughed heartily behind their masks, now that they could see the world clearly again.

Following our 2019 TIMA Global Forum, Tzu Chi volunteers embarked on another journey to deliver two brand new Vision Mobile units to New York City.
Tzu Chi Medical Foundation, established in 1993 as a charitable nonprofit 501(c)(3) free clinic, is a community-based volunteer-driven organization committed to providing patient-centered medical care to communities in need locally and internationally.
September 29, 2019, was a special day for the Las Vegas Tzu Chi Service Center for several reasons. Not only was it a day for dental outreach at the Salvation Army to benefit the homeless community in Las Vegas, but it was also the first-ever vision outreach to be conducted in Las Vegas by Tzu Chi.
Having good vision means convenience; it’s also a good start for job seeking. Tzu Chi DaAi Vision Mobile arrived at Downtown Women’s Center, LA, bringing better vision and a spectacular world to women who live on the street.
