Tzu Chi hosted a First Aid 101 Workshop at the L.A. Care/Blue Shield Promise Community Resource Center on June 25, 2024, in collaboration with the L.A. Care Community Resource Team. Here, participants had the opportunity to delve into crucial topics such as emergency preparedness, CPR, and first aid. The hands-on activities and real-life demonstrations were particularly impactful, offering practical insights that empowered attendees with essential information and skills. The event brought together community members eager to learn life-saving skills and enhance emergency preparedness.
A Day of Learning and Unity
This collaborative first-aid workshop provided a comprehensive and engaging experience for all attendees. One core highlight of the workshop, however, was an interactive CPR training session. Participants practiced techniques under the guidance of experienced instructors, ensuring they left with a solid understanding of this vital skill. The hands-on CPR practice allowed attendees to feel more confident and ready to act in real-life situations, enhancing their ability to make a difference amid emergencies.

Gratitude for Our Partners and Volunteer Team
Tzu Chi volunteers and team members extended their heartfelt gratitude to the L.A. Care/Blue Shield Promise Community Resource Center for their generous support and for providing a wonderful venue. Their commitment to community health and wellness was instrumental in making this workshop possible, and their team’s collaborative spirit and dedication significantly contributed to the event’s success.
Tzu Chi’s Educational Development Department and Curtis Hsing, a Tzu Chi volunteer and Community Education Specialist, provided truly invaluable support as well. Together, all involved brought important new emergency relief information to our community residents. We are profoundly grateful for their care and commitment to this endeavor, and their dedication to lifting up wellness.
Community Impact
The first-aid workshop was well-received by the community, with participants expressing their appreciation for the valuable knowledge and skills they gained. Attendees left the event feeling more confident in their ability to remain calm and act with wisdom in the event of an emergency, a testament to the effectiveness of the training sessions. Many participants noted that they now feel better prepared to protect their loved ones and contribute to the safety of their community.
Access to Information Across the Board
In addition to in-person workshops, Tzu Chi Medical Foundation hosts monthly health webinars to care for the community via Meta and Zoom. These webinars cover a wide range of health topics and are accessible via YouTube. By leveraging digital platforms, Tzu Chi aims to reach even more people, providing valuable health education and resources to those who need them most.
