Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation invites the media to attend the 2019 TIMA Global Forum with the theme of “Enlightened Wellness”

San Dimas, CA, March 28, 2019The Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation invites the media to hear distinguished voices from the medical community speak on innovative and current topics in medicine, dental and vision care. Two of these leaders include Dr. Shinn-Zong Lin and Dr. Shaw-Ruey Lyu of Tzu Chi Hospital in Taiwan, one of the highest rated hospitals in all of Asia.

Lin is the superintendent of Hualien’s Tzu Chi Hospital, a professor of neurosurgery at Tzu Chi University, a fellow of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), an international fellow of American Association of Neurological Surgery (AANS), a charter fellow of National Academy of Inventors USA (NAI), Co-Editor-in-chief of Cell Transplantation, and the Chairman of the 10th Pan Pacific Symposium on Stem Cells and Cancer Research.

Lyu is likewise a highly respected figure in his field for his research on the pathogenesis of OA knee, as well as for developing an arthroscopic treatment concept called “arthroscopic cartilage regeneration facilitating procedure (ACRFP)” and, consequently, conceptualizing the knee health promotion option (KHPO), a clinically effective global treatment option for OA knee.

The Tzu Chi International Medical Association (TIMA) is a global network of over 10,000 licensed medical professionals, including doctors, dentists, acupuncturists, nurses, pharmacists and medical technicians who provide free medical, dental and vision services to low-income families and those suffering in the aftermath of disasters.

In 2018 alone, TIMA doctors carried out 9,316 medical outreach events worldwide. In California, TIMA medical outreach events are brought straight to the heart of communities most in need through our 10 Tzu Chi mobile clinics, two of which will soon be coming to New York.

The medical conference will also feature workshops on humanistic healthcare, including medicine, dentistry, alternative treatments such as acupuncture, acupressure and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), vision care, community health, medical volunteer programs and more.
